Dr Shimelis Tsegaye

Director of Programmes, ACPF

Dr Shimelis Tsegaye has just been appointed as Director of Programmes at ACPF, effective August 1st, 2019.   Dr Shimelis held the position of Programme Quality Manager for one year, since July 2018. 

 Dr Shimelis joined ACPF in 2005 and held several positions in programme development and management for nearly 15 years.  He served as Manager of the Child Development and Protection Programme at ACPF, responsible for programmes related to child protection, family empowerment, violence against children, child-headed households and disability.  He also held the position of Senior Policy Research Specialist from September 2010 to 2012.

Dr Shimelis has coordinated and co-authored two editions of the African Report on Child Wellbeing (ARCW) – a Pan-African report covering 52 African countries, as well as the African Report on Violence against Children (ARVAC) and the African Report on Children with Disabilities. He is also the author of a number of research reports on various issues, including on disability, child survival, child protection, child poverty and child wellbeing.

 

Dr Shimelis holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the Addis Ababa University and a degree of Doctor of Education from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
